Abstract
1417385 Latches SIEMENS AG 22 July 1974 [23 July 1973] 32423/74 Heading E2A A device 1, e.g. an electrical switch including a retaining structure 3 is provided with a displaceable slider 5 for use in mounting the structure on a support member, i.e. a rail 2, and there are guide means, such as ribs 6 and grooves 7 respectively on the structure and slider, for constraining the slider to movement longitudinally relative to the structure, and stressed resilient means, such as a spring 9, to urge the slider in one direction whereby an abutment surface on the slider is urged towards an opposing stop surface of the structure such surfaces extending transversely in relation to the direction of movement of the slider and being positioned so that separation of the surfaces can be brought about by movement of the slider in one direction in the course of an operation for mounting the structure against a face of the rail 2, in which operation, after such movement, a holding portion 12 of the slider clears an edge of the rail and the spring moves the slider back to bring the portion 12 into engagement behind the edge of the rail. The slider is resiliently deformable transversely in relation to the direction of movement of the slider so as to enable the abutment surface to be moved past the stop surface during assembly of the device. As shown, the slider has a slot 15 on one side of a bore 11 housing the spring 9 and abutment and stop surfaces are povided by projections 17 in the structure 3 and barblike portions 16 on the slider; alternatively, the projections are replaced by recesses in the structure. An extension 18 has a recess 19 for reception of a tool to draw the slider to a release position.
