Abstract
970,128. Obstetric forceps. A. S. MOOLGAOKER. Feb. 28, 1961, No. 7352/61. Heading A5R. In obstetric forceps the blades are pivoted by means such that they may be displaced longitudinally relative to each other. One blade A has a threaded hole H in its shank to receive a screw 8, forming the pivot, while the shank of the other blade B is slotted, so that it may be slid longitudinally about the pivot screw. For easy dismantling, the screw 8 is carried on a plate P pivoted to the lower blade at 6. The rear ends of the handles H 1 , H 2 have open-ended slots to receive a clamping screw 3. This is fastened, at one end, HE, in a locating block 5 secured to the lower blade by a detachable pin P 2 in a slot S 4 . The bolt passes loosely through a wedge member TW, the inclined faces of which are stepped, to engage against the inner faces of the slotted handles H 1 , H 2 , and is secured, after adjustment of the wedge, by a wing nut 10.
