Abstract

969,925. Valves. MEYNELL & SONS Ltd. Dec. 7, 1962 [Dec. 9, 1961], No. 44134/61. Heading F2V. A thermostatic mixing valve comprises a housing 101 containing a sleeve 11 which has ports 112, 113 communicating respectively with a hot fluid inlet 103 and a cold fluid inlet 104, these ports being controlled by a piston valve member 17 to admit the fluids to a space B beneath the piston, and passages 171 in the piston communicating this space to a main mixing chamber containing a temperatureresponsive bellows 18 which is connected to the piston 17. The bellows, and hence the setting of the valve, is adjustable manually through a screwed spindle 192 having a fine thread engaged in a cover 102, this spindle carrying internally an adjustable screw 20 which bears on a stem 183 connected to one end of the bellows and carrying a sealing ring 21. The piston 17 is spring-urged in the direction opposing the bellows. A baffle 27 surrounds the bellows. The mixing chamber communicates with two diametrically opposite outlets 105, 106a of which one may be plugged. The hot and cold inlets are segregated by a sealing 0-ring 16 round sleeve 11.
