Abstract

969,732. Endless track links. K. DIEHL. April 19, 1963 [April 19, 1962; July 28, 1962], No. 15457/63. Heading B7H. An endless track link comprises two parallel tubular members 2, 3 joined by end-pieces 4, 5 and a bridge-piece 6 partly filling the space between the parts 2, 3, 4 and 5 cast or forged as a unit and covered on the running wheel side at least by rubber members 1, 7. The bridge 6 may slope upwards from end-piece 5 to the centre, may increase in thickness from the centre towards the tubular members 2, 3 and may be pierced at 8 and 9. The running wheel side of the link is preferably covered with heatresistant rubber 7 and the ground engaging side with wear-resistant rubber 1. In an alternative construction (Fig. 4) ribs 16, 17 are provided below members 2, 3 between which fits a running shoe of rubber 20 vulcanized to a metal plate 19 which is attached to bridge 12 by bolt 21. The bolt 21 and hole 15 in bridge 12 may be of corresponding non-circular section to prevent rotation of the shoe. An alternative running shoe with spikes for travelling on ice may be fitted.
