Abstract
A primary composition for application de-sealed steel parts which are to be welded consist of 30-35 parts by weight of an unsaturated alkyd resin containing styrene, 5-10 parts of a bisphenol A-epichlorhydrin resin esterified with coconut fatty acid, 10-15 parts of red iron oxide, 14-16 parts of silcar pigment, 2-5 parts of zinc tetrachromate, 10-15 parts of barium sulphate, and 18-22 parts of a mixture of benzine with homologues of benzene, e.g. xylene. The silcar pigment is finely divided silicon carbide about 98% of which is insoluble in hydrochloric acid.
