Abstract
1,177,692. Fused salt baths; heat treatment. DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT. May 5, 1967 [May 5, 1966], No. 20982/67. Headings C7M and C7N. A fused salt bath for the heat treatment of steel consists essentially of a mixture of an alkaline earth metal chloride and a fluoride - of a metal whose oxides form spinels with iron oxide, and from 0À5 to 1% by weight of boron trioxide. Specific compositions disclosed are 94% BaC1 2 , 5À4% MgF 2 to which is added 0À6% boron trioxide. The boron trioxide content is preferably 10-15% of the weight of the MgF 2 content.
