Abstract
969,504. Haymaking machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. Jan. 31, 1961 [Feb. 20, 1960], No. 3649/61. Heading A1F. Relates to a haymaking machine of the type having a rotary reel formed by discs 9, 10 interconnected by tine-bars 8 and wherein the frame comprises beams 4, 5 parallel to the tine-bars and supporting between them a series of rods 39 which extend around part of the surface of revolution swept out by the tine-bar. According to the invention, the rods are connected to the sides of the beams 4, 5 which face the said surface and some, at least, of the rods are provided with guiding surfaces 53 for the crop discharged by the reel. The machine is arranged for attachment to the draught-links 20, 21, 24 of a tractor 22 and is composed of a parallelogramshaped frame 2, 3, 4, 5, of which the rear end is supported on a height-adjustable caster 26, the apices of the frame being vertical pivot-pins 6. A locking sector 28 is provided on the beam 3 and co-operates with an extension 30 of the beam 4, by means of a pin 31 entering holes 29, to locate the frame in any particular configuration. The beams 4, 5 are tubular (Fig. 3) and are extended inwardly by parallel strips 40, 41, 43, 44, through which pass the ends of rods 39. The guiding surfaces 53 are trapezoidal plates attached to the rods at their ends adjacent to the beam 5, which is at a higher level than the beam 4, the plates being inclined backwardly relative to the vertical planes in which the rods 39 are located. The tine-bars (Fig. 5) have resilient wire tines 61 formed in pairs and bolted to the bars which are adjustably attached to strips 63 carrying a vertical bearing 66 attached, in turn, to a horizontal bearing 71 secured to the disc 10. The disc 9 is driven by chain-gearing, in a casing 32, from a shaft 33 connectable to the tractor. For tedding, the frame can be swung into the dotted position (Fig. 1).
