Abstract

790,916. Side-delivery rakes. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. April 29, 1954 [May 28, 1953], No. 12424/54. Class 6(3). A side-delivery rake of the kind having oblique rake-wheels driven by ground-contact, is characterized in that the teeth 17 on each wheel 13 have an elongated ground-contacting portion at their lower ends. As shown in Fig. 2, each tooth has a limited freedom of movement both longitudinally, and in a rotary sense about its axis, and is provided with a returned groundcontacting portion 20. The shanks 17 of the teeth are slidable in spaced bearings 15, 16 on the face of disc-like wheels 13, abutments 18 being carried by the shanks to contact the bearings at the limit-positions ; V-shaped abutments 19 welded to the shanks co-operate with the disc-surface to limit rotary movement of the teeth. The returned portions hang downwardly as each tooth passes its lowermost position and reverse themselves as it rises, thus discharging the crop. In a modification, Fig. 4, (not shown) the teeth are fixed and have groundcontacting portions which extend behind the disc ; a short auxiliary tooth precedes each tooth but does not contact the ground.
