Abstract

969,313. Making electron tube grids; jointing. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 28, 1963 [July 3, 1962], No. 25820/63. Headings B3A and B3V. A method of manufacturing a frame grid, consisting of a frame having a wire winding, comprises the steps of coating, either galvanically or by a chemical reduction process, the frame with an adhering nickel layer, winding a grid wire on the frame, then coating the frame at least in the region of the wound wires with a layer of nickel or nickel oxide powder, and then heating the assembly, either in an inert atmosphere for the nickel powder or in a reducing atmosphere for the nickel oxide powder, at a temperature between 700‹ and 800 ‹ C. The powder, which may be applied by means of a suspension, is thus sintered. To form frame grids wound on one side only wire is wound on two joined frames and after the wire is secured it is cut or ground off along the sides between the two frames.
