Abstract
During a countercurrent liquid extraction process between two immiscible liquids in a packed tower an inert gas is introduced into the tower at the lower end in such quantity that no longitudinal mixing occurs and a formation of strong eddies is avoided. The gas may be recycled from the top of the tower.
