Abstract

968,440. Parenteral fluid administration* BAXTER LABORATORIES Inc. April 16, 1963 [July 9, 1962], No. 14744/63. Heading A5R. A hollow needle for piercing sealable diaphragms of parenteral fluid containers comprises a tubular shaft 14 bevel cut at one end and having a bridge section 18 across the lumen at the bevel cut end. The portion of the bridge adjacent the needle point has a sharp ridge 19 and forms an angle to the portion of the bridge most remote from the needle point. The needle has an integral manipulating flange 15 and a rear connector portion 16. The device is moulded from rigid plastic such as nylon, styrene or acrylic resins.
