Abstract
1284537 Transfusing devices A E C BENNETT and M BEWICK 19 Sept 1969 [19 Sept 1968 19 May 1969] 44530/68 and 25421/69 Heading A5R A transfusing device comprises a body portion 11, having a through bore 13 communicating with a sleeve 12 projecting from one end of the body, and a secondary bore 15 extending into the body and communicating with a plurality of apertures 18 spaced along the wall of the sleeve 12. When a needle (20, Fig. 3) or a catheter 22, Fig. 4 is inserted through the through bore 13 and into a patient's blood vessel, the tip of the sleeve, and the outer end 14 of the through bore form seals around the catheter to enable anti-inflammatory liquid to be fed through the secondary bore and pass out of the apertures 18 to prevent inflammation of the surrounding tissues. In an alternative embodiment, (Fig. 5, not shown) the forward portion of the bore (30) is surrounded by a sleeve (32) with perforations (33) and sealed at its ends to define an annular passage into which the secondary bore (34) feeds directly. The outer ends of the tube (30) and secondary bore (34) are provided with lever fittings (35, 36).
