Abstract

967,294. Powder dispensers. L. HARTVIGJOHANSEN. Nov. 3, 1961 [Nov. 4, 1960; July 5, 1961], No. 39434/61. Heading B2F. [Also in Division B8] A powder dispensing device, e.g. for dispensing increments of soap powder, comprises a tray 2, Fig. 1, having a plunger 3 arranged slidably against the bottom and sides thereof and against the bottom of a powder carton 1 which is set into the tray, and is arranged so that powder falling from an aperture formed by tearing away a corner of the carton falls into a cavity in front of the plunger edge 23. The plunger is moved to push the powder out through the tray aperture 5. The plunger may be spring loaded, Fig. 2 (not shown), and may have a transverse portion, Fig. 5 (not shown), which closes the aperture 5 when the plunger is in the inactive position. The tray 2 may form part of a housing 18, Fig. 7, arranged to contain the carton and which can be attached to a wall. The aperture 5 may be covered by a shield 17 to prevent ingress of water to the powder. The housing may have a slit-like window (not shown) corresponding with a slit window in the carton so that the powder level may be determined.
