4 Claims.
The present invention relates to paper board for its object an improvement in which a pouring aperture may be made in the/carton for permitting dry cartons and has in pouring cartons pulverulent or granular contents thereof, to emptied from the carton.
In the present embodiment, the carton ymay be made up of a single sheet of paper board and may comprise the usual body forming panels up to form a rectangular carton with flaps extending from each end of each panel to form top and bottom closure flaps.

The present pouring closure is developed about one of the corners of the carton, and as shown in standard the drawing, the carton may be of the form previously noted.
The cooperating parts of the closure involve least two adjacent angular walls of the carton which forms a corner thereof and at least two the coacting closure flaps, when in carton assembly.

Flap 4, Fig. 5 has its edge, adjacent the cut 2li and flap 5, provided with a senil-circular cut-out I2. Likewise the flap 6, adjacent its cut and the flap 5, has its edge provided with a senilcircular cut-out I3. It will be seen that the flap 5 and its appurtenant panel 2, Fig. 5, is provided with a circular pick-out piece I0 defined half and half out of each portions 2 and 5, by a circular line of perforations, such circular pickout piece spanning the score line 1, so that when the carton is formed and closed in rectangular assembly as in Fig. 1, with all flaps 4, 5, 6 and the opposite mate ap to 5, not shown, are glued to one another the pick-out piece I0 is formed on the corner junction of flap 5 and panel 2.
[The flap 5 and its companion flap, not shown are' first closed down, and then flaps 4 and 5 are glued on their underfaces and closed down, with the circular cut-outs I2 and I3 bordering that half section of the piece I0 which is in flap 5. Thus cut-outs I2 and I3 provide a finger space about the half section of the cut-out piece I0.
To open this particular form of package the user grasps the angularly disposed pick-out piece I0 between a finger and thumb, and pinches it, thus causing the pick-out piece to break at its line of weakening I I, the removed section I0 then being discarded, leaving the package with the opening T, as in Fig. 2, ready for pouring out the contents.
In the alternate form shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 6, in which like portions of the carton bear like indices for parts similar to those of Figs. 1, 2 and 4, the flap 5 and the Vpanel 2, Fig. 6, have a pick-out tuck flap I4, partially defined thereon by a cut-through semi-circular line I5 on flap 5, the ends of said semi-circular cut ending short of the score line 1, and being there joined by two perforated weakened lines I5-I5, which extend past the score line l, and down a suitable distance onto panel 2, Where they endv at a traversing score line S.

The overlay of the flaps l and I on the tuck flap 7. under flap I, Thus this latter flap not only renders the contents of the package accessible, but it also performs the function of reclosable tuck nap, to close the pouring aperture and protect the remaining contents of the carton.
'Ihus it will be noted that the present pouring means are created in a fiat one piece blank, without added parts and wholly within the confines of the blank itself.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed is:
1. A carton comprising a front wall having thereon a flap forming an under end closure member, said wall .and member having therein a tear out tuck to provide a pouring opening; said tuck having a base part in the walland a free terminal and marginal part in said member, there being weakened lines on opposite sides of said parts and there being a cut extending from the ends of the lines around the terminal;
and two side walls having thereon flaps forming upper members of the closure, said upper members having therein finger spaces which register above said marginal part, the contour of the space boundaries'being such as to cover the said lines in the marginal part, said cut being then covered in sift proof relation by the flaps thereat.
2. A carton comprising a front wall having thereon a flap forming an inner under end closure member, said wall and inner member having therein a tear-out tuckable ap to provide a pouring aperture; said tuckable flap having a hinged base part in said wall and a free terminal and marginal part positioned in said inner member, there being spaced lines of Weakness dening said hinged base part from said wall, there being a cut extending from the lines of weakness around the terminal and two side walls having ilaps thereon forming upper members of the closure. said upper members having therein linger spaces which register above and over said marginal part, the contour of the space boundaries being such as to expose a portion of the marginal part, the cut portion thereof being covered in sift proof relation by the upper flaps, said upper flaps, after the tuckable ap has been opened, forming a seat for the marginal portion of said tuckable flap, Ato receive and hold the same in its original closure position when closed.
3. The combination in a carton, having a front wall, of an under closure flap on said front wall, which, when in closed position forms la corner with said wall, a tear out portion on said corner deilned by lines of weakness on said wall and flap, the part of the tear out portion on said flap being coated on its face and beyond the margins of its line of weakness with a glue resist, and upper side closing flaps on said carton which are superposed upon the under closure flap and glued thereto, said closing flaps being provided with finger spaces which are superposed over the coated face of the tear out portion, the edges of the linger spaces extending over the line of weakness of the coated face of the tear out portion in a sift preventing manner, as and for the purpose described.
4. The combination in a carton, having a front wall, of an under closure flap on said front wall, which, when in closed position forms a. corner with said wall, a tear out portion on said corner for forming a closable corner pouring aperture when broken and defined by lines of Weakness on said wall and flap, the part of the tear out portion on said flap being coated on its face and beyond the margins of its line of weakness with a glue resist, whereby to maintain said tear out .portion on said ap portion detachably free of glue and upper side closing flaps on said carton which are superposed upon the under closure ilap and glued thereto, said closing flaps being provided with finger spaces which are superposed over the coated face of the tear out portion, whereby to afford manual access to the `tear out ap portion, the edges of the finger spaces extending over the line of weakness of the coated face of the tear out portion in a sift preventing manner and forming a superposed retuck seat for the flap tear out portion whereby the flap tear out portion when reclosed, will occupy its original aperture and seat in said closure flap, and under said superposed flaps, as and for the purpose described.
