A box for dispensing pills &c. has slideable along one wall 2, a member 7 comprising a chamber 9, the chamber being alternately in communication with the box interior and a dispensing aperture 3 in the wall 2. The member 7 is moved against the action of a spring 11 by a part of it 12 protruding through the wall 2. The entrance to the chamber 9 is covered by a fixed element 5 when the member 7 is in dispensing position.
