Abstract

967,119. Laying heated pipes underground. HYDROBIT G.m.b.H. Oct. 25, 1962 [Jan. 30, 1962], No. 40428/62. Heading F2P. A method of laying pipes which are insulated with a layer of glass or mineral wool or the like for conveying hot fluid so that they can contract and expand longitudinally consists in encasing them in concrete to the mix of which has been added 3 to 30% by volume of a bituminous liquid binder which hardens after the insulated pipes have been encased in the concrete. Preferably 7 to 14% of the binder are added to normal or to lightweight concrete and the mix is poured without tamping into the space bounded by the formwork and containing the pipes. The binder is obtained from petroleum distillation. It is molten at 160‹ C. to 220‹ C. and is solid and plastic at soil temperature. The cement hardens but is plastic when subjected to a permanent load.
