Abstract
1,045,829. Heat-insulated pipes; laying pipes. I. QUASSOWAKI-KEMPF. June 16, 1965 [July 10, 1964], No. 25507/65. Heading F2P. In a method of laying and insulating underground pipelines carrying heated fluids, the pipes are supported on bearers erected on the floor of a trench and surrounded by a material comprising 30 to 60% by volume, bitumen and 40 to 70% by volume cork meal with a grain size of less than 7 mm., the material being cast around the pipeline in a molten condition at a temperature of at least 150‹ C. Another granular material, e.g. sawdust, may be partly substituted for the cork meal, and the pipes may be given a coating of a lime emulsion to prevent adherence thereto of the encasing material.
