Abstract

1419810 Pipe couplings; insulated pipes PARK SECTIONAL INSULATING CO Ltd 30 Nov 1973 55765/73 Headings F2G and F2P [Also in Divisions F3-F4] A flue section comprises an inner tube liner 11 and an outer tube sleeve 12 defining an annular gap 13 filled with particles of insulating material impregnated but not saturated with a binder and hardened so as to form a layer of insulating material bonded to the liner and the sleeve. Each end of the annular gap is closed by a collar 14 of insulating material in mat form which may be impregnated with the same binder. One end of the section is formed with a socket 15 with grooves 18 engaging protuberances 17 on the opposite spigot end 16. The insulation may be mineral or glass wool or vermiculite in mat form shredded into particles of between #-“ inch size. The binder is a sodium silicate solution containing about 50% water and having a Twaddell reading of 44 or it could be a resin or high alumina cement. The liner 11 may be ceramic or stainless steel, and the sleeve 12 galvanized steel, aluminium or stainless steel.
