Abstract
967,115. Linear particle accelerators; mass separators. CSF-COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Aug. 20, 1962 [Sept. 27, 1961], No. 31838/62. Heading H1D. A sectionalized linear accelerator has magnetic separators 2, 3, 4, 5 and 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP>, 5 interposed between at least one section 1 and the preceding and succeeding sections 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP>, the separators being branched at 6 and 6<SP>1</SP> whereby an auxiliary beam of low energy particles may be passed through the section 1 for test purposes or for utilization. The separators in which each element 2, 2<SP>1</SP> &c. is a magnet are of the type described in Specification 854,474. Analysing and intensity measuring devices 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and 8, 8<SP>1</SP> are described in Specification 959,247.
