Abstract
1,000,812. Heavy-ion-beam tubes. HIGH VOLTAGE ENGINEERING CORPORATION. July 17, 1961, No. 34170/64. Divided out of 1,000,811. Heading H1D. In a direct voltage particle accelerator positive ions produced from grounded ion source 13 are neutralized in canal 14, the resulting neutral beam then passing to the high voltage positive terminal 26 of an electrostatic belttype or other type generator where a stripping device 27 converts the neutral beam to a beam of positive ions. These ions are then accelerated away from the high-voltage terminal and directed on to a target 18 through a beam analysing device 25. A further stripping device, e.g. a foil, may be interposed in the path of the beam. Specification 1,000,813 also is referred to.
