A photographic or kinematograph camera for use with one or more interchangeable afocal supplementary lenses to be fitted in front of the normal focusable camera lens includes, for fitting in place of a supplementary lens, an adapter for focusing the camera lens, releasable locking means being provided in the camera for preventing movement of the camera lens focusing means, and the adapter is arranged so that on attachment to the camera it releases said locking means and can only be detached from the camera in a position in which the locking means re-engages. As shown, the camera lens is focused by screwing its mount 2 into and out of the thread 3 in the camera front wall 1, rotation of the mount 2 being effected via gear 7, shaft 6, and gears 8 from an internally toothed portion 9 of a ring 10 rotatably mounted in the front wall 1 which also supports a rotatable ring 14 having bayonet lugs 15. For use of the camera lens alone, an adapter 16 is applied to the ring 14 and a pin 19 attached to a focus setting ring 18 rotatable on the adapter engages in a hole in the ring 10 displacing from it a spring-urged locking pin 11, while a pin 20 on the ring 18 with an enlarged head 21 passes through the enlarged end 24 of a guide groove 22 in the wall 1 into the partly concealed groove 23, the adapter being locked on the ring by rotating it to engages the bayonet lugs. Thereafter by rotating the ring 18 the ring 10 rotates focusing the camera lens. A lens hood 26 or filter may be screw attached at 25 to the adapter. On removing the adapter, for which purpose it must be returned to its attachment position, the ring 10 is again locked by the pin 13 with the camera lens in its infinity position and the supplementary lens with its own focusing device, e.g. a zoom lens, is attached to the bayonet ring 14.
