In a rotary-piston internal combustion having a housing 1 of epitrochoidal inner profile 2 over which moves a three-sided piston 3 having curved flanks, the inlet port 5, through which air is admitted in the case of a fuel-injection engine and a fuel-air mixture in the case of a carburetted engine, comprises a spiral portion 7 whose axis 8 is substantially perpendicular to the piston track and which through a straight portion 9 opens through the profile 2, so that the air or fuel-air mixture is given a whirling motion to produce turbulence to improve combustion.
