Abstract

965,964. Open fireplaces; hot-water boilers. W. L. STOBBS. June 28, 1962 [June 27, 1961], No. 23124/61. Headings F4A and F4W. A domestic open firegrate comprises watercooled firebars 11 shaped to form the base, sides and top of the grate and connected to centrally disposed outlet 12 and return 13 headers which in turn are connected to heating elements by pipes 15 and 16. The U-portion of the front firebar is slightly wider than the U- portions of the more rearward bars. The front opening may be restricted by an inverted U- shaped baffle, Fig. 2 (not shown), which may be made in two parts bolted together adjustably so that the width may be varied.
