Relates to a fireback boiler comprising an upper part which has vertical back and side walls and a front wall and provides a boiler space around a vertical flue 6 opening through upper and lower walls 2, 7, and a pair of hollow legs 5 which open at their upper ends into that boiler space and have back, side and front walls which form downward extensions of the corresponding walls. of the upper part, the lower wall 7 extending between the two legs 5. According to the invention, the legs are of such a length as to extend below the hearth level 13 of an open fireplace when the lower wall 7 is positioned above and behind the firegrate 14.
