Abstract
964,971. Sanitary closets. C. F. TAYLOR (METAL WORKERS) Ltd. July 31, 1961 [April 29, 1960], No. 15239/60. Heading E1C. A toilet unit in which a pan 2 is mounted in a reservoir 1 containing a sanitary fluid which is recirculated by a pump unit 6 to flush the pan 2 has a bellows 7 and housing 9 to one or the other of which sanitary fluid can pass by way of a filter 24, the bellows 7 being operable in one direction against the influence of a spring 8 to discharge flushing fluid and returned by it in the other direction to withdraw a supply of fluid from the reservoir 1 for a subsequent flushing. The fluid is expelled through the valve 12 of the housing 9 in one form (Figs. 1 and 2) for flushing when the bellows 7 are extended by a hand-actuated plunger 11, and is drawn into the housing 9 through the valve 13 when the bellows 7 are collapsed. In another form (Fig. 4) fluid enters the bellows 7 through a valve 10 when the bellows 7 are extended by the spring 8, to be discharged when they are collapsed. The upper end of the bellows 7 has a discharge pipe 5 slidable over a prop 3a extending from the flush pipe 3. The pipe 5 is displaceable axially for flushing by a manually-operated arm 29 to collapse the bellows 7 against the influence of a spring 23 threaded thereover. The bellows 7 may be operated pneumatically. The reservoir may be fitted internally with a vertically-displaceable sleeve connected to means whereby it can be located in either one of two positions-one in which it is housed completely in the bucket in which the unit serves as a removable carry-on unit, or another in which it is extended through openings in the bucket bottom and the aircraft floor for connection to a servicing bowser. The sleeve can be set in a raised or lowered position. The unit when connected to a servicing bowser has a discharge aperture coacting with a discharge pipe forming part of, or connected to, a dump valve.
