Abstract

964, 504. Automatic voltage control. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Nov. 16, 1961 [Nov. 26, 1960], No. 40972/61. Heading G3R. A voltage regulator for a shunt excited D. C. generator has a transistor in series with the field winding and a voltage 2 current responsive electromagnetic relay controls the transistor. The generator 16 supplies a battery 40 through a diode 45, and supplies the field winding 15 through a normally conductive transistor 50. The base current of transistor 50 energizes the voltage coil 53, 54 of the electromagnetic relay which closes its contacts 51, 52 when the voltage of the generator reaches the prescribed value. These contacts not only short circuit the base/emitter path of the transistor causing it to cut off,but also short-circuit a portion 53 of the voltage coil so that the relay reopens earlier. Current limiting is effected by a coil 55 energized connected through a non-linear diode 56 across a resistor 44 in series with the generator load. Specification 964,503 is referred to.
