A circuit for converting an "a out-of b" code into an "α out-of #" code, # < b, is characterized in that unless precisely a input pulses are applied to the circuit no output pulses are produced. Should a spurious pulse combination (one not containing precisely 3 pulses) be applied to the first diode matrix no output at all is produced so that a diode gate D 3 opens and gives an error indication via an amplifier 15.
