Abstract
1301893 Protective arrangements MOSKOVSKY ORDENA LENINA ENERGETICHESKY INSTITUT 11 April 1970 17298/70 Heading H2K In an arrangement for protecting a D.C. transmission line 2 there is provided a unit 4 in which the duration of the derivative of the line voltage whilst it remains of the same polarity is compared with the duration of a reference signal. The unit 4 produces an output signal when the duration of the voltage derivative is longer than that of the reference signal, when there is a fault at a converting station, this output causes a protective unit 6 to provide signal only on a conductor 10 connected through a time delay circuit to the control devices of the transmission line. If the duration of the voltage derivative is shorter than that of the reference signal due to a short circuit on the line 2, then there is no output from the unit 4 to the unit 6 which provides output signals on both conductors 10 and 11, the conductor 11 being directly connected to the control devices of the line. The unit 4 comprises a differentiator 12, an amplifier 13, a flip-flop circuit 15 and a comparison circuit 17. A delay circuit 19 produces a signal to reset the flip-flop circuit 15 a predetermined time after the recovery of the voltage on the line 2.
