Abstract

A cellulose-containing material is filled with a vinyl chloride resin, either the resin or the cellulosic material containing a substance which splits off SO2. The substance is preferably a sulphite, hydrogen sulphite, pyrosulphite, hyposulphite, hypodisulphite, hypodisulphate or thiosulphate of a mono- or divalent metal or ammonia. In examples the substance is sodium hypodisulphite, barium sulphite or sodium pyrosulphite. Other ingredients are polyethylene imine, dioctylphthalate, sodium polyacrylate, epoxy plasticizer and calcium stearate. The cellulosic material is either wood pulp or bleached nettle cloth.ALSO:A cellulose-containing material, e.g. bleached nettle cloth, is coated with a vinyl chloride resin, either the resin or the cellulosic material containing a substance which splits off SO2. The substance is preferably a sulphite, hydrogen sulphite, pyrosulphite, hyposulphite, hypodisulphite, hypodisulphate or thiosulphate of a mono- or divalent metal or ammonia. In the examples a cloth is treated with a solution of sodium pyrosulphite then dried and coated with a polyvinyl chloride/dioctyl phthalate paste containing an epoxy plasticizer and calcium stearate.ALSO:A cellulose-containing material, e.g. wood pulp for making paper, is filled with a vinyl chloride resin, either the resin or the cellulose material containing a substance which splits off SO2. The substance is preferably a sulphite, hydrogen sulphite, pyrosulphite, hyposulphite, hypodisulphite, hypodisulphate or thiosulphate of a mono- or divalent metal or ammonia. In examples, aqueous wood pulp and powdered polyvinyl chloride are mixed with dioctyl phthalate emulsion and, either processed into paper and coated with sodium hypodisulphite, or mixed with barium sulphite and then processed. Other ingredients such as polyethylene imine and sodium polyoenylate may be added.
