Abstract
963,221. Semi-conductor devices; circuit assemblies. PYE Ltd. June 7, 1962 [June 7, 1961], No. 20561/61. Headings H1K and H1R. A solid state circuit or a micro-circuit is provided with one or more heat or infra-red sensitive devices to produce the power supply for and/or control conditions in the circuit. The radiation sensitive devices may consist of thermocouples. Several elements may be connected in series to provide a higher voltage, Fig. 2 (not shown), or several elements may be used independently to provide separate voltages or control conditions to different parts of the circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown). Filters with different pass bands in the infra-red range may be placed over groups of elements to allow sections of the circuit to be switched on and off independently, Fig. 4 (not shown). As shown, a plurality of solid state or micro-circuits 1 each provided with two radiation sensitive cells 19, 21 are provided with power from source 20 by cell 19, and are individually controlled by a source 23 and a rotary chopper 22. Selective control of the circuits 1 may be obtained by using a chopper with segmented filters and covering the cells 21 with individual filters.
