Abstract

962,570. Illuminated signs. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 16, 1960, No. 31993/60. Heading G5C. [Also in Divisions E1 and G2] An illuminated sign (Fig. 4) comprises a transluscent plate 45, which may carry lettering, a light source 42, and a sheet of material 40. The sheet 40 comprises glass beads 11 partly coated with reflecting metal 12 embedded in transluscent synthetic plastic (Fig. 1). Legends may be delineated in coloured parts of the plastic and/or by the beads 11, which may be coloured, so that the former legend is normally visible by means of source 42, except when light from car headlights, for example, is reflected by beads 11 so that their legend is seen.
