961,456. Delivery apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG A.G. Feb. 8, 1962 [Feb. 10, 1961], No. 4972/62. Heading B6H. In apparatus in which sheets 1 from a printing machine are carried by gripper-fliers 2 actuated by a cam assembly 3 to release the sheets on to pile 4, the point at which the grippers are opened is varied according to the speed of the printing machine so that a fast-moving sheet is released sooner than a slow-moving sheet, their momentum carrying them to the same piling point. As shown, the control cam comprises two cam parts 5, 6 respectively for opening and closing the gripper. Cam part 5 is adjusted relative to part 6 by rack-and-pinion mechanism 11, 12, operated by an electric motor. This is operated in dependence on a motor which alters the speed of the printing machine. The motor drives the pinion 11 through variable speed gearing which is used to adjust the amount of movement of the cam which results from change of speed of the machine. A manual adjustment is also provided.
