Abstract

961,189. Soil fertilising. CONTINENTAL OIL CO. Oct. 5, 1960 [July 13, 1960], No. 34199/60. Heading A1B. [Also in Division F1] Apparatus for injecting a measured quantity of anhydrous ammonia into the ground comprises a pronged hollow rod 17 connected to a storage tank 11 by a flexible hose 15 incorporating a valve 22 for regulating the flow of ammonia to the rod. The ammonia is pumped from the tank 11 and fed into the ground through outlets near the lower end of the rod, a metering device e.g. an orifice 21 measuring the flow of ammonia to the rod. A cross piece 19 limits the depth of penetration of the rod into the ground.
