An overhead runway system has load-carrying trolleys 25 on a single rail carried by hangers from a supporting structure and has junctions and crossings between fixed sections 18 of the track comprising plates 10, 11, 12 with their upper surfaces in a common plane which is parallel to and below that of the upper edges of the rail sections 18 by an amount corresponding to the depth of the groove in the single rail engaging wheel 23 of the trolley 25. Guideways 13, 14 between plates 10, 11, 12 co-operate with trolley member 27 to guide the trolley through the junction and an additional wheel 26 on the same axle 28 of the trolley runs on the plates to stabilize the trolley. The plates 10, 11, 12 are connected together by bridge members 16, 17 and plate 12 is strengthened by a plate 21. In Fig. 4 (not shown), there is two arcuate guideways 14 and one straight guideway 13. A crossing between straight rails at right-angles, comprises four plates defining crossing guideways.
