Abstract
An oxidation catalyst comprises cylindrical particles of a mixture of Al2(SiO3)3 and Al2O3, a fine deposit of less than 0,1% Pd and/or Pt carried by the particles which have a bulk density of 0,6-0,8 Kgs./litre. The particles during manufacture are annealed at 950-1350 DEG C. A typical composite catalyst may contain 0,06% Pt, 27% SiO2, 71% Al2O3, 1% Fe, 0,2% CaO, 0,3% MgO, 0,2% K2O, 0,2% Na2O, 0,04% impurity and may have a density of 0,76 Kgs./litre. The cylindrical particles may have equal heights and diameters which vary from 2-8 mms.
