Abstract
959,360. Non-metallic pipes. STUDEBAKER CORPORATION. Dec. 20, 1962, No. 48225/62. Heading F2P. [Also in Divisions B5, F1 and F3] An annular wall having a face for engagement by fluid flow and formed of resin-impregnated annular flat fabric laminations arranged in face-to-face, aligned, substantially parallel overlapping relation, has each lamination extending towards the fluid with a minor portion of one of its faces along one edge exposed to trailing contact with the fluid flow and a major portion of the face overlapped by an adjacent upstream lamination. A rocket exhaust nozzle, Fig. 9, is formed of a strip of resin-impregnated glass or asbestos fibre 37 wound in overlapping relationship. The laminations 43 are at a substantially constant angle to the inner face of the nozzle from the inlet to the throat 44 and from the throat 44 onwards they are parallel to the axis of the nozzle. The moulding of the laminations 37 on a two piece mandrel 35, 36 is described. The construction is applicable generally to bodies subject to high fluid velocities.
