Abstract
959,158. Soil stabilization. PITTSBURGH PLATE GLASS CO. Feb. 7, 1963 [Feb. 28, 1962], No. 5105/63. Heading E1F. Subterranean water-bearing stratum is frozen by introducing a coolant liquid having a temperature below 0‹C down one or more boreholes extending down through the stratum to a cavity formed below the stratum and removing the coolant from the cavity through one or more holes extending to the surface of the working site, said second hole or holes being well spaced from the first hole or holes so that heat is not transferred from the rising coolant to the descending coolant. Specification 945,220 is referred to.
