Abstract
Stereoregular polymers of 1-olefins made by using Ziegler-Natta-type polymerization catalysts are recovered and purified by adding an alkanol to the slurry subsequently adding at least 0.5% by volume, based on the diluent of hydrochloric acid having a concentration of at least 20% to the alkanol-treated slurry, and then extracting the slurry with an aqueous liquid, e.g. a solution of sodium hydroxide. The 1-olefin may be ethylene, propylene, butene-1, or 3-methyl-pentene-1. The Specification contains a long list of catalysts. The exemplified catalyst is T1Cl3 plus diethylaluminium chloride. The alcohol may be any alcohol from methanol to dodecanol, preferably n-butanol.
