Abstract

958,739. Screening apparatus. STAMICARBON N.V. Nov. 21, 1962 [Nov. 28, 1961], No. 44072/62. Heading B2H. A screen 3 for separating material of widelydiverging grain size, such as coal, consists of parallel or nearly-parallel bars with certain bars 9 held at one or both ends for supporting relatively coarse pieces of material and intervening bars 11 which are held at one end only and less resistant to flexure. The bars 11, as shown in Fig. 3, are secured to a bridge piece 5 by clamping plates 12 and the bars 9 secured by welding with their tops at a higher level than those of the bars 11 ; a tapered stiffening rib 10 may be provided under each bar 9. The material is conveyed to a series of screens 3 which are arranged to slope downwardly and overlap one another.
