Abstract

1,266,693. Sorting apparatus. N. BAKER. 13 May, 1969 [13 Feb., 1968], No. 7017/68. Heading B2H. An apparatus for separating bar ends or components from swarf, Fig. 2, comprises a vibratory trough 2 having a stepped slot in its bottom and associated with a nozzle 1 for blowing air across the slot so that as the mixture of swarf and bar ends or components travel down the trough the relatively light swarf is carried over the slot by the blast of air while the relatively heavy bar ends or components fall through the slot down a chute 3. Where the slot is relatively wide, spring metal strips 5, Fig. 1 are stretched across the slot to help the swarf bridge over the slot.
