Abstract
958,392. Microwave ovens. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 24,1961 [Feb. 29, 1960], No. 6866/61. Addition to 873,082. Heading H5H. A radio-frequency oven comprises a plurality of heating units as described in the parent Specification spaced along a conveyer belt. Frozen meals on plates 7 are passed by a belt 2 through a channel 25 made of conductive material. Five heating units each having a magnetron generator 8 and a voltage supply set 9 direct energy through slots in the channel 25 to troughs 28 partly filled with radiation absorbing material. Each magnetron 8 feeds energy through a coaxial conductor 15, provided with a matching device 16, to a linear radiator 22 arranged in conjunction with two reflector rods 23 in a parabolic waveguide 18. One unit directs radiation in an opposite direction to the others, thus providing bilateral heating. A common supervisory and control panel 10 is provided, and vapours are removed by a compressed air duct 30 communicating with the waveguides 18 through gaps 31.
