958,137. Vehicle couplings. C. P. WITTER. Feb. 5, 1962 [March 28, 1961], No. 11214/61. Heading B7T. A ball and socket coupling comprises, latches 20, 21 pivoted on bolts 15, 16 through the socket arm and held beneath the ball in a locking position by a spring 19, and a safety catch 27 pivoted on arms 26 against a spring and having downwardly extending limbs 28, 29 which engage inside upturned lugs 22, 23 on the latches when in the operative position. The socket 12 may be spun or pressed from non ferrous metal or nylon, and only one latch may be provided. Specifications 707,052 and 892,952 are referred to.
