Abstract
958,124. Electromagnets. DOWTY ELECTRICS Ltd. Aug. 2, 1961 [Aug. 2, 1960], No. 41646/62. Divided out of 958,123. Heading H1P. In an electromagnet, used for operating a fluid valve, armature 16 is slidably mounted in bore 29, of end member 25, and is attracted to core 17 when coil 22, wound on tubular aluminium bobbin 19, is energized, thus causing ball 8 to engage seating 9 and connect fluid ports 6 and 7. In order to complete the magnetic circuit core 17 is screwed into valve body 1 and the whole enclosed in shell 23. When the coil is not energized fluid pressure forces ball 8 back against seating 11 to connect fluid ports 5 and 6. The valve may also be manuallyoperated by means of push-button 31 which is enclosed by rubber boot 34. Enclosed in the housing under connection 37 are a pair of diodes 41, 42 and a non-linear plate resistor 43, Fig. 2 (not shown).
