Abstract
1,055,865. Hydraulic control circuits. SIMCA AUTOMOBILES. Feb. 4, 1965 [ Feb. 5, 1964], No.4946/65. Heading F1P. Avoidance of rudder pressure surges within chambers 4, 5 Fig. 1 (not shown) on either side of a jack piston 2 when supplied by a hydraulic pump P through a line 13 and a distributing valve 11 comprising a double-acting solenoid operated pistons 12 and having a return line connection 14 is effected by means of a pressure regulating valve 16 in line 13 and having a connection 19 to exhaust a line 13 leading to the centre space 33 of a solenoid operated master piston 34 of a valve 30 which in the neutral position shown and assuming solenoid EA 1 to be energized resulting in pistons 12 being moved to the left, pump delivery pressure is in part relieved to exhaust 14 through orifice 19 in part relieved to exhaust through hones 24, 26 of valve 16, line 13<SP>1</SP> and valve 30 whilst the remaining pressure at a minimum value is transmitted through valve 11 to cylinder space 5 and pressure therein is increased to a maximum value on energizing solenoid EA 3 to displace piston 34 of valve 30 to the left whereon the progressive rise in back pressure generated in line 13<SP>1</SP> serves to seat valve 18 slowly and to increase pressure in line 13 to said maximum value. At the end of the jack stroke pressure is prevented from rising in chamber 5 by being relieved through bones 24, 26 of valve 16, a ball valve 27, bones 26a, 23 leading to the return line 14. This results in unseating of valve member 18 but maximum pressure is maintained in chamber 5 until such time as solenoid EA 3 is de-energized and the master valve piston 34 is returned by its spring 48 to the neutral position thereby connecting chambers 25, 25a to exhaust 14 resulting in complete unseating of valve 18 and exhaust of pressure from chamber 5 to said minimum value. The return stroke of piston 2 is initiated by deenergizing solenoid EA 1 energizing solenoid EA 2 and subsequently energizing solenoid EA 3 resulting in maximum pressure being developed in jack chamber 4. Automatic sequential operation of say solenoid EA 1 and solenoid EA 3 is effected by closing a switch FC 3 by means of a cam 42 on a follower rod 41 bearing against the armature 37 of solenoid EA 1 ; the switch FC 3 being in the control circuit of solenoid EA 3 and which is thus energized. The armature 50 of EA 3 is also abutted by a follower rod 51 carrying a cam 52 which closes a switch FC 5 in an alarm circuit and carrying a cam 53 which controls a switch FC 6 in the electric control circuit of EA 1 . Automatic return of the jack piston 2 is initiated by cam actuated switches FC 1 , FC 2 incorporated in the electric control circuit. In a modification the piston 2 during part of its stroke may be subjected to a pressure intermediate the minimum and maximumpressures by the provision of a second master valve 58 Fig. 2 (not shown) and an associated regulating valve 59.
