Abstract

957,160. Floodlight lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 18, 1963, No. 10603/63. Heading F4R. A casing for a floodlight having an elongated light source consists of a light transmitting front portion and a back portion divided into two parts in the plane containing the axis of the light source. In the form shown, the back portion consists of identical castings 2, 3, Fig. 2, having flanges 2a, 3a providing mating surfaces by which the parts are bolted together and which are also provided with holes for receiving supports 8 for the casing. The front portion 9 is of transparent sheet material having side pieces 10, the edges of the material being embedded in sealing material 12 in grooves 13 in a raised lip 14 in the periphery of the back portion. A reflector 16 is sprung into position behind the lip 14 and fits against the wall of the back portion. A sodium lamp 5, Fig. 3, is mounted in a socket 22 supported by a V-shaped clip having resilient arms 24 which are sprung into position between one end wall 10 and a sleeve 17 carried by the end wall, a similar sleeve 18 supporting the lamp at the opposite end. The socket 22 is covered by a cap 25 held in place by bolts 26 on the side wall which engage in keyhole slots 27 in the flange of the cap. A similar cap is secured at the opposite end.
