1337330 Street light PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 14 Dec 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 57940/71 Heading F4R A street light comprises two elongate sources 1, 3, e.g. the two limbs of a U-shaped gas discharge lamp, parallel to the street surface 10, a refractor 9 partially surrounding the lamp, and a reflector 7, the arrangement being such that unrefracted reflected light 21 impinges on the street at a further distance from the lamp than refracted reflected light 28, 37. A V-shaped mirror 11 may be included to increase illumination. The refractor 9 may include ribs which become coarser at the uppermost parts. The reflector 7 may be parabolic with focus F.
