Abstract
956,893. Canister harness. MINE SAFETY APPLIANCES CO. March 29, 1963 [May 29, 1962], No. 12533/63. Heading A3V. A canister harness (e.g. as used with breathing apparatus) comprises a cover (e.g of plastic) shaped to fit over the top of the canister 1, (Fig. 2) the top 2 of the cover having a canister neck opening 3 and an integral depending flange 4, having on the side that engages the body an integral downward extension 5. A pair of strap slots 7 are provided on either side of the neck opening 3 (Fig. 1) in the cover 2 and slots 8 are also provided in the central portion of the extension 5. The ends of strap 10 extend down through slots 7 in the cover top, and then down through slots 8 in the flange extension 5 in which location the straps are crossed over, pass down below the extension then upward to the front of the cover and attached thereto by looping the ends through slots 11 in front of flange 4, the ends then being stitched to the body of the strap. An adjustable stiff cross piece 12 in the front of the harness holds the front straps parallel. A recess 18 may be provided in the lower front surface of the extension flange 5 for a body encircling strap 17 which passes through vertical slots 16. Slots 7 and 8 are inclined as shown to allow the strap to lie flat.
