Abstract

956,822. Transformers. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 19, 1963 [April 19, 1962], No. 15340/62. Heading H1T. A transformer coil holder comprises a beam 4 (Fig. 1) long enough to pass through the coil 1 and out at both ends means being provided to secure the beam ends to a frame structure such as 7. In addition to being usable for transporting purposes the beam 8<SP>1</SP> and frame 7 (Fig. 5) may be built into the transformer during reassembly the latter stiffening the tank and the feet of the frame being welded to the tank base 2. The frame 7 may then carry terminal gear, addition A frame parts used during transport being removed. A lower beam part 8 may carry laminations during transport and the latter may be supported on members 18a, 18b welded to frame 7. The beam may be adjustable and may consist of upper and lower parts relatively adjustable to grip opposite sides of the coil eye. It may be withdrawn during reassembly, the coil being supported on the core 13 (Fig. 8) by wedges 16. Means 18, 38 for clamping the laminations may be provided. During transport the coil and coil holder may be held in a holder comprising a tank base part and a temporary cover (Fig. 3, not shown) and filled with CO 2 . 2. Packing between coils and tank parts supports the former against short circuit forces. The tank bases containing the individual coils for a three phase transformer may be aligned and welded together on assembly (Fig. 7, not shown).
