Abstract

956,483. Cutting tools. PENISTONE HARD METALS CO. Ltd. July 27, 1962 [July 27, 1961], No. 27184/61. Headings B3B, B3K and B3L. A lathe, milling or planing tool comprises an L-shaped support screwed to the tool body, and a replaceable tip screwed to the support. A tool body 1, Figs. 1, 2, has a recess 4, with a step 5, a hardened support 7 screwed to the body, and tip 3 screwed to the support and engaging faces 12, 14, of the latter. A milling cutter 21, Figs. 5-8, has seats 22 formed by cutting L-shaped slots 24, L-shaped supports 25 screwed to the cutter, tungsten carbide inserts 27, and tips 23. The tips are each screwed to a spring-urged block 30, slidable in a hole 31. In a modification, each tip is secured to a shank as in Figs. 1, 2, and the shanks are secured to slots in a milling cutter by wedges or by screws.
