Abstract

1,136,305. Milling cutters. MARWIN (ANSTEY) Ltd. 3 July, 1967 [4 July, 1966], No. 30022/66. Heading B3K. A milling cutter has cutting inserts e.g. 12, 13, 14 forming the faces of flute portions of the cutter and an end cutting insert 16 which is offset from the axis of the cutter so that the points where the inserts 12, 13, 14 meet the end insert lie at different radii. The cutter may be of alloy steel and the inserts of tungsten carbide, high speed steel or ceramic material and may be secured by brazing or adhesively or clamped by means of screws or by shrinkage. The end insert may be of cylindrical, triangular, square, or polygonal section.
